Founder, Phil Irving and his wife Barbara settled in Verwood in the early 1970’s. Phil, a qualified conveyancing lawyer, came to run the newly opened office of a local law firm. They soon realised that this friendly and vibrant community was where they wanted to put down roots and raise their family. In 1983 Phil gave up the law to join a friend in his local estate agency and in 1985 he and Barbara took the plunge to open their own office. Phil & Barbara have both been heavily involved in the local community for nearly 40 years with Phil having been the President of the Community Association for over 25 years and having served for six years as an elected Town Councillor.
In the 25 years since it was founded, Irving and Sons and have literally helped thousands of local people to move home and have built a reputation based on unsurpassed local knowledge, service, honesty, commitment and passion for helping their clients move. Phil has always ensured that Irving and Sons were on the cutting edge of technology and is proud to be one of the first U.K. estate agents to embrace computers which, 25 years ago, marked him out as an industry leader.
In 1997 Phil and Barbara’s Son Nolan joined the business after initially training and working in IT and graphic design. As well as running the office alongside his parents, Nolan continues his father’s determination to keep Irving and Sons in the forefront of technological development. Nolan is the IT Director for Wessex Team and is heavily involved in the continuing development of IT and marketing services for the Team network of Estate Agents, thus ensuring that Irving and Sons are always able to utilise the latest technology when marketing properties for sale or rent.
2010 will see the introduction of our Complete Home Moving Service. This new team initiative, developed by Phil Irving in his capacity as a Main Board Director of Team, will see the introduction of a comprehensive range of essential moving services from HIPs and Conveyancing through to Removals and Home Insurance all designed to ensure that Irving and Sons can provide a comprehensive home moving service on behalf of their clients. Our aim is to take the stress out of moving home ensuring our clients can get on with their lives whilst Irving and Sons take the strain.
