Government reveals plans for new houses for sale to be green by
2016

Communities and Local Government has announced its plans for all
new houses for sale in the UK to be built after 2016 to be
green.
Housing minister Grant Shapps has stated that in order to properly
commit to its proposals for more environmentally-friendly
properties, it is crucial that a greater number of zero-carbon
houses are constructed.
In order to assist this process, he asked the Zero Carbon Hub to
bring evidence forward about how to reduce carbon emissions and it
found that there are a number of ways that properties can be
constructed in a more eco-friendly manner.
Mr Shapps stated: "We are committed to ensuring that new homes do
not add to our carbon footprint."
He added that he is "committed to finding the most practical way"
of building new green homes.
This comes after the British Property Federation called for the
government to streamline sustainable housing projects in order
encourage the development of more environmentally-friendly
properties earlier this winter.
