New properties to be built in Bristol after wildlife is relocated
Thanks to a wildlife relocation project, work on a new housing
development in Bristol remains ongoing.
The Jephson Housing Association is constructing 32 new residences
in the Shirehampton area, meaning there will be more property for sale in Bristol soon.
It was discovered that over 100 slow worms and other wildlife were
present on the construction site and so environmental planning and
design company the Landmark Practice was called in to create a
buffer habitat.
This was enhanced by the improvement of existing hedgerows and with
the planting of native trees and flowers around the perimeter of
the area.
The housing project is located on a disused allotment site and it
has received funding from the Homes and Communities Agency - which
was formed on December 1st 2008 and operates with an annual budget
in excess of £5 billion.
In total, £5.2 million is being spent on the project.
